Bootblack Info

I wanted to take a moment to say hello and pass along some important information regarding bootblacking at G.O.D.S.

The following will outline the expectations for all bootblacks. 

  •  This year Bootblacks will be required and scheduled to black for 12-hrs over the course of the event.
  • If you complete your scheduled 12 you will be eligible to bootblack at future G.o.D.S. events.
  •  All individuals wishing to bootblack at G.O.D.S will need to fill out and submit the Bootblack application by 19 July 2024.
  • There will be a meeting held at 11:00 am on Friday 2nd Aug. 2024. Attendance is mandatory. If you are unable to make this meeting you will need to notify the producers by the 22th of July 2024. I will reschedule you for another time that same day. Please be advised that I will only reschedule your meeting one time, if you fail to show up for the meeting, you will not be able to bootblack at the event and the current full membership price will be charged if you decided to attend the event. ALL BOOTBLACKS MUST ATTEND THIS MEETING BEFORE THEY WILL BE ALLOWED TO BOOTBLACK.  Email communication regarding the meeting location (at the hotel) will be sent closer to the event.
  • The bootblacking schedule will be sent out the week of July 22nd.  All bootblacks are expected to be on time and work their scheduled shifts. The schedule is final no switching of shifts will be allowed.
  • Bootblacking is a service G.O.D.S. offers to its membership, with that being said, bootblacks are not permitted to set prices for their services; However, bootblacks are allowed to accept tips of any monetary value. My rule of thumb, when asked by a client how much one should tip for the service, is “however much you feel my work is worth.” Through the years we have found that allowing the clients to determine the price typically results in higher tips.
